When construction began on the new International Runway at Memphis International Airport, Fullen Dock provided delivery of 150,000 tons of construction aggregate for the two-mile long, three-foot thick, steel-reinforced concrete runway.

River Terminal's New Web Site Serves as Electronic Port of Call for Shippers Worldwide

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—(Dec. 1, 2003) — Fullen Dock and Warehouse (Mississippi River, mile 740) officially launched its new Web site at www.fullendock.com this week, meeting its goal to provide useful information at the same level of service, accessibility and efficiency as its actual operations.

The new site's content and design go well beyond communicating all of Fullen Dock's services in a succinct, visually arresting way.

"We also wanted to provide a resource for drivers and other service providers working with the Fullen Dock family of services," explains Lanny Chalk, Fullen Dock's general manager. "This serves as a one-stop-shop for valuable industry- and terminal-related information." The next phase for the site will deliver further on this promise as the company develops a Web-based portal for online invoicing and reporting.

"In planning this site, we noted how North America's inland waterway system functions like the Internet in many ways," said Dan O'Brien, a partner at inferno, the advertising agency that designed the new site for Fullen Dock. "The Web is both a conduit and warehouse for information while the waterways serve as a medium for moving cargo to and from points all over the world. The Internet has its Web sites and the waterway system has its river terminals, so a great port ought to have a great Web site."

When the historic bomber Memphis Belle needed a lift from the Millington Naval Base to its newly constructed pavillion at Mud Island in downtown Memphis, Fullen Dock got it there safe and sound.
